Sandra
Academic coordinator
How long have you been working in BCN Languages?
Since 2018 as the Spanish academic coordinator.
What do you like about your job?
I love getting to know people from all over the world and find out our cultural differences. It’s like being able to mentally travel everywhere.
What are your strong points?
Advising students to reach their learning goals and supporting them during their stay from an academic point of view. Coordinating teachers, students and the Spanish department in order to provide detailed individualised communication and attention to each and every one of our students.
What are your favourite places in Barcelona?
It’s almost impossible to choose just one place, but you can’t miss the sunset from Montjuïc Castle. It’s fabulous.
Any advice you would like to give to students coming to Barcelona?
Of course! Enjoy a glass of cava and some tapas de jamón in Champañería in Barceloneta, an authentic bar, cheap and perfect to go and spend time with friends and meet new people.
Tatiana
International Programs Coordinator
How long have you been working in BCN Languages?
Since August 2014.
What do you like about your job?
I like the interaction with the international students, organising the course and accommodation for them, making them feel safe like at home but at the same time, giving them the feeling that are living a new and emotional experience in one of the most exciting European cities. I like to see them enjoying learning and improving the language, it’s amazing to see them timidly smiling and just saying “hola” when they have just landed here, and to leave us talking Spanish and hoping to come back soon.
What are your strong points?
I guess one of my strong points is being well organised, so that I can coordinate the international students on their journey here with us. Another point is that I empathise with the students which allows me to enjoy myself while I help guide them on the first steps of their stay here. I like feeling that I’m a little part of their adventures and someone they can turn to in case of necessity.
What are your favourite’s places in Barcelona?
I love Barcelona, every corner is just so unique, and there are so many “best places”!
Of course the “Gothic” and “Barceloneta” are very charming and relaxing, you have the feeling that you are on holidays all year long, from “Monjuic” or “Tibidabo” you can enjoy wonderful views, in the “ Eixample” you can find impressive artistic buildings that appear out of nowhere and leave with your mouth wide open for a while…That’s why it’s simply impossible for me to choose.
Any advice you would like to give to students coming to Barcelona?
Put simply, don’t let laziness stop you from discovering it. Barcelona has a lot, a lot to offer, and it rarely disappoints. And if they are coming from a cold country to enjoy the weather and go for long walks on the beach!

There are lots of places that I like, especially Montjüic. Barcelona is a fascinating city that offers lots to do from a cultural and fun point of view. You can always meet new people. The whole city is definitely worth exploring.

To take part in different cultural events and sightseeing. Also, to be careful with their personal belongings, especially in Las Ramblas.
