Teachers
All members of our experienced team of teachers are qualified to teach Spanish as a foreign language.
All of our teachers share three basic qualities: personal attention to each student, thorough preparation of the classes, and commitment to academic achievement.
The exchange of cultural experiences between students and teacher and the teachers’ total commitment to the school’s project have created a close-knit community within BCN Languages that works toward a common goal: helping the student to learn, accompany him or her and giving support along the learning path, and make the process enjoyable.

María López has been a language teacher for 13 years. He is from Jaén but has lived in Palma de Mallorca for more than 10 years. He has worked at BCNLanguages since 2015 as Academic Coordinator.
I love being a teacher of Spanish as a foreign language, being in continuous contact with people of other nationalities is a very enriching job. We prepare classes adapting to the interests and needs of our students. Each group is different and therefore, no class is the same, We accumulate experiences and it is always very gratifying to see how students advance and enjoy our culture.
The classroom is the space where we get to know each other, teachers teach Spanish at the same time we learn from our students, we get to know cultures, I would even say that we travel from the classroom and this sensation is unique!
María has more than 15 years of experience in language teaching and academic management, specializing in English and Spanish as a foreign language (ELE). Throughout his career, he has held highly responsible roles. As an academic coordinator at BCN Languages, her duties include managing the day-to-day operations of the center, including student service, human resources administration, and the creation of educational content. His experience in various educational and cultural environments has allowed him to develop a comprehensive vision of language teaching, from group formation in international contexts to preparation for official exams. Throughout his professional career, he has worked both in Spain and abroad, collaborating in educational institutions such as Lycoming College in the United States, and in several training centers in the United Kingdom, where he was in charge of teaching Spanish as foreign language. Its pedagogical approach is based on the creation of dynamic and effective learning environments, adapted to the needs of students of all ages and levels. In addition, their experience in occupational training and in organizing language immersion camps reinforces their ability to adapt to different educational formats and maximize learning in diverse contexts.

Being a Spanish as a foreign language teacher means seeing yourself and your culture through different eyes every day.
Most people think that languages are just interchangeable parts and that words are the removable elements of those parts; but that is not the case, each language shapes our way of understanding the world and understanding ourselves.

Mireia Trilla
Mireia is from Palma de Mallorca, she has been a Spanish teacher since 2022
For me, being a Spanish teacher means being a channel for transmitting not only knowledge of a language but also its history and culture. It is much more than explaining grammar and vocabulary, it is about providing the necessary tools so that students can communicate with people of different nationalities, have access to services and feel part of the community. Teaching Spanish allows me to play a fundamental role in my students’ learning process and in their adaptation to a new environment. It is very rewarding to contribute to your understanding, curiosity and passion for the language!

Studying languages allows us to understand and see life from different perspectives, understand other cultures and customs and connect with people with whom, without that tool, it would be difficult to do so.
For me, it is a before and after in the personal and professional development of people, it allows us to be “citizens of the world.”
I can say that I am passionate about teaching languages, I have fun teaching and I am fascinated by this profession because every day is a challenge, every day I learn from my students, just as they learn from me. This continuous cultural exchange and seeing the evolution of my students makes me feel fulfilled every day.
